Join us to learn about Playwrights Project, a local nonprofit that teaches playwriting in schools, community centers, jails and prisons to inspire individual growth and community connection. Executive Director Cecelia Kouma and an alumni of the program will share writing from a variety of settings and invite conversation about creating safe spaces for sharing creativity and insights.

National Night Out is an annual community-building campaign that promotes police-community partnerships and neighborhood camaraderie. Bring your family and friends for a night of free ice cream provided by the Kensington Talmadge Community Association and live music by Stan Sewitch and the Blue Hooz Band. The Kensington Normal Heights Library will be there as well as SDPD Officer Josh Cummings, KSAC Litter Pickers and Kensington Fire Safe and more! Meet your neighbors for a night in the park!

Join your neighbors at the Talmadge Fourth of July Parade on Friday, July 4th at 11:00 a.m. at the Talmadge Traffic Circle (4900 Adams Ave).

This annual summertime celebration brings the Talmadge community together to commemorate our nation’s independence with festive family-friendly fun! It all begins at 11:00 a.m. at the Talmadge Traffic Circle where there will be a brief ceremony followed by a mile-long walking parade with scores of neighbors showing up with their scooters, strollers, skates, pets, and lots of red, white and blue!! This event is hosted by the Kensington Talmadge Business Association and participating businesses will be hosting tables with freebies and giveaway.

A Feast of Words with Richard Lederer

Best-selling language author and U-T language columnist Richard Lederer will serve up a veritable banquet of words, from a brief history of English to rib-tickling bloopers and puns.

He is a founding co-host of “A Way with Words,” broadcast on KPBS. Dr. Lederer is the author of 65 books about language, history and humor.
